Dear Dr. <Name> and Prof. <Name>,
Thank you very much for your time today to interview me for the PhD student position in Epidemiology of Mental Health, Karolinska Institutet, Department of Public Health Sciences. I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about PhD in Karolinska Institutet, Department of Public Health Sciences, to meet you, and to hear about your research team, available big data, and international collaboration. After our conversation, I am confident that my research skills and experiences (top research master’s degree in Epidemiology and having almost 1 paper every 2 months published in a reputable journal for the last 1 year) are a great match for this PhD specialty in Mental Health Epidemiology which is my dream specialization area in one of the prestigious world-class research institute, KI.
As we discussed, I find analyzing big registry data using different statistical approaches is fascinating and an amazing opportunity for the future, but the burden and risk factors of psychiatric disorders are also a major concern and have not yet. Investigating and characterizing psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia, depression, and other severe mental illness in a different group of study population would be a top priority for my PhD study; I would love to dig deeper into the various socioeconomic, clinical, and psychological factors and its role in psychiatric illness applying different statistical and bioinformatic methodological approaches using big data.
I enjoyed talking with you and discussing very interesting issues including working in a team as well as independently.
I am very enthusiastic about this opportunity to join your research team of the Epidemiology of Mental Health, at Department of Public Health Sciences.
Best regards,
Tesfa Habtewold, MSc
